Local Attractions

The Gosforth Hall Inn is located in the charming village of Gosforth, conveniently located within easy distance of the beautiful and unspoilt Eskdale and Wasdale valleys. This makes it a perfect base for both walkers and travellers wishing to explore the region. The Inn itself provides an inviting and friendly atmosphere and, complemented by regular activities and entertainment, draws people from the local area as well as visitors.

The local area provides access to a number of interesting attractions and places to visit. We have listed some of these below, with our own views on those we have visited.

For a comprehensive informational website on the Gosforth and Wasdale area please visit:

Situated on the edge of the scenic village of Silecroft within the Lake District National Park, Murthwaite Green Trekking Centre offers horse riding for all ages and abilities. Muncaster Castle is a must for visitors to the area. If you wish to visit all the gardens, which we recommend, it will be a full day out. Please remember to wear suitable footwear, though, as it can be muddy. The birds of prey display is spectacular, as is the owl sancutuary. All in all, a great day out for all the family and only 20 minutes drive from the Inn.

The La'al Ratty is described as the most beautiful train journey in England, and we are not about to disagree. This is another one for the family and again is less than 20 minutes from the Gosforth Hall Inn.
