Bar / Lounge
The bar offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, supported by a good range of wines, spirits and locally brewed real ale from Yates and Hawkshead.

The bar is popular with both locals and visitors, especially when the real fire provides added warmth, following your return from exploring the near by fells. The fireplace is dominated by a plaster overmantle bearing the initials of the first owners of the hall, together with the date of 1673. Building actually commenced in 1658. The significant history will add interest to your visit and the present owners will be delighted to provide further factual and anecdotal information about the history of the building, over a quiet pint, of course.

Originally the kitchen of the hall, the lounge has a fine fireplace and inglenook, with many masons marks and an original doorway leading to an impressive stone spiral staircase, built out as a turret. It has been renovated to provide an exceptionally relaxed reception and lounge area. When conditions require, you will be able to enjoy the real fire roaring below the massive sandstone arch. The lounge is an excellent place to spend a couple of hours in good company, or even to unwind with a good book.
